Accountant


**This is a volunteer (unpaid) position.**

Position Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to manage the financial operations of Spread the Love Projects. The Accountant will oversee financial transactions, track costs and revenue, coordinate tax filings, and ensure accurate financial reporting. By maintaining precise financial records, the Accountant will play a vital role in supporting our mission and ensuring financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.

  • Maintain and reconcile financial records in QuickBooks, ensuring all payments are properly categorized.

  • Track expenses and revenue from donations, grants, and fundraising activities.

  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support decision-making.

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and best practices.

  • Coordinate tax filings, including preparing necessary documentation and working with external tax professionals if needed.

  • Assist in grant reporting and compliance by maintaining accurate financial data.

  • Implement and oversee internal financial controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.

  • Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations for organizational growth and sustainability.

Qualifications:

  • Coursework at an undergraduate level in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks.

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and tax regulations for nonprofits.

  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.

  • Passion for social impact and alignment with the mission of Spread the Love Projects.

Term Limit:

6 - 12 months 

Hours:

  • Weekly Meetings

  • Asynchronous work throughout the week

  • Average 2 hours per week
