Our Mission
STLP is committed to closing the healthcare equity gap by providing financial support, essential resources, and preventative care to vulnerable families, with a particular focus on those facing pediatric health challenges, to improve the quality of life for their children.
Our mission is to alleviate the financial burdens associated with pediatric medical care while providing access to vital resources that support both the child’s health and the family’s well-being. Recognizing the immense stress families face when managing pediatric illnesses or disabilities, we empower them through financial assistance, community-driven initiatives, and strategic partnerships that bridge gaps in healthcare access.
By fostering resilience, solidarity, and a strong commitment to closing the health equity gap, Spread the Love Projects strives to ensure that every child and family has the opportunity to thrive in both health and life.
A personal statement from our founder:
I am an immigrant born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. In April of 2010, my family transitioned from living in Pakistan to the United States of America, we were met with several financial hardships. Specifically, there were times as children when my siblings and I did not have health coverage because my parents simply could not afford it. I distinctly recall never having a pediatrician growing up and receiving my vaccinations through federally supported community vaccination centers. Luckily, through my parents’ hard work and relentless effort, our family reached a point of financial stability. Seeing my parents, Mahira and Zulfiqar Khan, struggle and succeed within their lives motivated me to my core. With their love, I have learned to persevere through every hardship life throws at me. They have taught me that love always triumphs evil, and while individuals may judge from an outside perspective, staying true to yourself and focusing on being a good human being is of utmost importance. My parents have given me the world, and I strive to make them proud in everything I do.
As a Nationally Registered EMT and a future physician, helping and caring for individuals is at the core of who I am. As I volunteered on an ambulance at my local fire station, I began to notice how so many patients seemed to be concerned about the cost of their medical treatment. This is when I initially started to connect my personal childhood experiences with an active issue impacting families across the country. As I could not leave this grave dilemma untouched, Spread the Love Projects was born. Ultimately, with the help of my team, I want to leave this world a better place than I found it. Healthcare expenses are a serious problem in The United States, and it pains my heart knowing so many parents struggle to afford necessities due to their child’s medical expenses. I hope to carry this organization with me as I become a physician and leave a positive impact on the world in the long run.
